Nothing within him will give. He must leave his home
already moving through the roots rising up to gesture.
He is like a sound heard as it goes out of existence.
He is like a spice, tasting as it spends.
Woman has a gesture. As old as god, she need not
even stir from her chair. Changed to spice.
Changed to sound.

He will pray and winter in prayer, from cries of his
wish, insights released at the last moment of strength.
He will bring back a gesture as delicate, as brief, and
as unreal. Ships, alphabets, the timbale and the harp.
She is now all the gods he has lost. And if for an hour
he finds her he thinks he has found god's gesture too.
For they have always moved in the same spaces.

I remember in my life every circle nearly joined.
Anguish at the closing of eyes, regrets at the rim
of eyes. Only we can summon. A singing
rich with human traces.
Do not take all your wish to flesh. It rises to meet us
or it trails away. Path in a circle's space. Perfectly
constrained as a prayer wheel's message and motion.

beings of mischance and distant reaches. Do not hold them;
